Pedal to the Metal

RIVRDOG writes about a visit to the arid deserts of Arizona and its drivers:

If you don't like to drive fast, don't come down here with a vehicle. The urban freeways are speedways, with 75 being considered no big deal, and 90 no big deal on the intercity interstates. Bring a car that will hold those speeds or you're holding up traffic.

Ole dog, you don't even want to come to the Tampa bay area if fast traffic scares you. And here it is little ole ladies in tennis shoes and a big ass Lincoln Towncar about twenty years old that is taking their half out of the middle of the freeway at 90 plus. Sometimes they can even see over the steering wheel.

Funny thing about driving the interstate--excepting I-4 between Tampa and Orlando which is always like driving in the Daytona-- is that traffic usually moves along pretty good around 75MPH. That is until you approach a major city. Then that same little ole lady in the Towncar decides fuck it, it is time to go home and bitch at the ole man and it is pedal to the metal and the fuel injectors go to injecting and you had better just get out of her way. I am just glad I know my way around Florida on the back roads.
