Tinned tomatoes are a brilliant addition to anyone's storecupboard and one that I wouldn't ever want to be without. They are so useful and add a great flavour to many savoury dishes. I have been buying the carton ones from Sainsbury's Basics range for a long time and at 35p per carton they are excellent value for money. Last week while shopping in Lidl I picked up a couple of tins for 31p per tin to try them and they were excellent too. Today I decided to do a bit of cooking in preparation for week 4 of the Stretch it Out September Challenge and I thought it would be fun to take some photographs of each of them so you can see for yourselves.

Lidl ones were slightly chunkier.
Sainsburys ones were slightly thicker.
When they were both cooked down it didn't make any difference to the finished dish and in the future I will buy them from either store.
A quick pic of the Chilli and Bolognaise I have made for the freezer, I now have all my meals ready for next weeks challenge. Tonights tea was the remaining Chilli with Basmati Rice and it was delicious.
